Blue Apron Review

blue apron review 2019

Deciding what to prepare for my family at the end of the day is one of the chores that I dislike the most.

I have to find something to make that my kids will eat and something that's healthy as well.

It doesn't help that most fresh foods in grocery stores are more expensive than processed foods and items that you can stick in the microwave.

Thankfully, I found Blue Apron.

This is a meal delivery service that provides fresh ingredients so that I can make meals of all kinds that are healthy for my family.

It's easy to get started, and there are numerous types of plans available to fit just about every budget.

Choose Your Plan

After signing up for the service, you'll get to choose the plan that you want.

The type of plan that you choose determines what kinds of foods you're going to get in your box.

There is an option to change your menu the following week if you're not happy with the selection or if you find that you need more food for your family.

Most of the plans are designed to feed two people.

However, you can change the number of people who will be fed or the number of meals that you order.

When you get your box each week, you're going to get all of the ingredients that are needed to make each meal.

The Signature Box is one of the most popular for two people or even for someone who is single who doesn't want to have to worry about going to the grocery store or figuring out what to cook.

You'll usually get three meals in the box.

There is a selection of fresh meats, vegetables, and other items that are all used to make the recipes that are available for that week.

You can choose a vegetarian option that only includes fresh vegetables and fruits.

A similar box feeds four people.

You're going to get similar items in your box but enough to feed multiple people instead of only one or two each week.

This is an option for large families or if you're planning a special meal and don't want to deal with the hassle of coming up with something to take to the event or something to serve to your guests.

The Freestyle box is an option that is ideal for those who are on the Weight Watchers diet plan.

The items that are included in the box are low-calorie and are low-fat.

You'll get enough items to prepare about three meals a week with all of the ingredients satisfying the details of the Weight Watchers plan.

There's a vegetarian box that you can purchase as well.

Although I don't like eating only vegetables, this is a good option for those who do choose this lifestyle.

It's also a good option to consider if you're trying to stock up on the number of fruits and vegetables that you have in your refrigerator as you don't have to use the items you get to prepare a recipe.

Account Options

After you've selected your meal plan, you'll then create an account with your address and payment information.

Blue Apron accepts debit and credit cards as forms of payment.

Keep in mind that you're going to need to monitor your account to ensure that you receive your boxes on time and that the proper amount for the boxes was deducted from your card.

This might sound like the company overcharges customers, but it's really to simply ensure that everything is charged correctly so that there are no issues.

I have never had any issues during the past year that I've been using the service.

If there have been questions, customer service has always responded promptly so that I don't have to wait for an answer.

Meals

Once your account is ready to go, you can then choose the meals that you want. This is the best part of the service.

There's a wide assortment of meals available with new ones being added all the time.

There are even special meals for holidays, such as ham for Christmas and turkey for Thanksgiving.

I have had to pay a little more for these meals, but it's worth the extra money if I don't have to go to the grocery store.

The meals that are offered have been selected by chefs who ensure that all of the instructions are included in the boxes that you get.

If you don't want to prepare an entire meal, there are one-pan recipes as well as a few recipes for the crockpot.

What could be easier than selecting meals that you can just throw in a pot and leave to cook for the day?

Packaging

The thought of getting meat and vegetables delivered to your home might not sound too appealing because of the packaging.

However, Blue Apron ensures that each box is properly insulated so that all of the items that are inside are as fresh as they would be if you were to get them at a grocery store.

You'll also be pleased to know that the boxes that you receive will stay fresh if they are delivered when you're not home.

There have been a few times that my boxes have arrived early, but the food inside was still cold and tasted delicious.

Discounts

Blue Apron offers a few discounts for the boxes that you can choose.

The first three orders that you place are discounted by $20, which is a substantial savings.

This means that you're going to get the ingredients to prepare at least three meals for much less than what you would pay in the store.

With the money that you save, you can get more healthy foods for your family.

What's The Verdict

I would highly suggest that you give Blue Apron a try so that you can get the freshest foods for your meals.

You'll save money, and you don't have to fight the crowds at the grocery store.

Visit the website to learn more about how to get started and to choose your first plan today.

Pros

  • Boxes are well-insulated with fresh contents
  • Large selection of meals
  • Cancel at any time

Cons

  • Boxes are left when you're not home
