Short Par 4 Reviews: Golf Apparel Subscription With Style

short par 4 golf review

As soon as you let someone know that you're a golfer, you might receive a mystery golf box.

It doesn't matter what my other interests are - as soon as a friend or family member catches wind of the fact that I like to play, I know that there's going to be at least one golf-related item coming my way every holiday or birthday.

The truth is, most of the golf-related products I get aren't all that useful.

Most of the time I'd be much happier to have something to wear on the course.

I'm not exactly a huge fashion person, but I'd like to look a little bit less like a lost caddy when I walk up to the clubhouse.

That's why I've found Short Par 4 to be so interesting.

A golf box with a unique focus on fashion, it's been a real game-changer for me.

If you look at what makes the subscription work, you can definitely see why it's so popular.

They're hilariously boasting that your "handsomeness guaranteed" so, let us review!

What's in the Box? Golf Gear for The Golf Course!

Short Par 4 is, at its heart, really more of a golf apparel box than it is a golf accessories box.

Yes, it gives you golf equipment and other items for golf - but the vast majority of what you're going to receive is golf apparel.

You are going to receive premium golf brands, but it's good to remember that subscribers are mostly here for fashion.

The high-end brands that may show up in your monthly box include Callaway, Puma, Oakley, Mizzen+Main, Under Amor, Travis Mathew, and maybe a few you've yet to discover.

Either way, it's all high-quality stuff from leading brands, in limited quantities with exclusive deals at unreal prices.

So, let them be your personal style caddy!

Sidenote: If you are looking to sweeten up your golf swing try Mullybox first.

In my experience, they really focus on improving your golf game more than your apparel.

If your tastes run a little more towards Jon Daly, the Loud & Wild collection is probably more your speed.

The clothes in here are definitely as advertised, but they're still not cheap.

These are for people who want to look a little crazy on the course but who don't want their clothing to fall apart mid-swing.

You can also grab the Athletic style if you're a fan of looking a little more like a college golfer or a younger tour pro.

These clothes look really good on and off the course, though they're obviously still meant for golf.

This is a great choice for anyone who just wants to go out and have a good day on the links.

Thankfully, Short Par 4 also provides a really nice All Styles option.

This one has a good mix of styles for those who just want to see a wide range of golf gear.

You'll get bits and pieces from each of the other collections, which you can then use to determine which type of box you'd like to get next.

While the styles all differ a bit between the boxes, you're going to see very similar content in each box.

You'll get a good combination of shirts, gloves, hats, and glasses, along with other accessories like golf balls in each box.

It's a good set of items, especially when you take a look at the monthly price.

Short Par 4 Membership Options

Fairway Membership Review

A Fairway subscription is their entry-level option that SP4 considers the "best bang for your buck".

A Fairway Box will gently guide you down the path of good golf style and boost your confidence, on and off the green.

Going with the Fairway package you never know exactly what you will receive but you can be sure that you are getting a great value at a fantastic price.

I think this is a great starting place if all of this is new to you, you are just want to test the subscription box out.

It's the choice I went with and I am happy.

Maybe I will level up one day.

Executive Membership Review

Speaking of leveling up, if you're looking for the creme de la creme in golf apparel, welcome to the upper echelon.

The Executive package offers yet another step up in the prestige of the brand names like Travis Mathew, Ralph Lauren RLX, Sunice, and Greyson.

You will be pampered with VIP customer service and hand-picked items curated just for you with your monthly indulgence.

Go with this membership if VIP treatment is a must.

Magnolia Membership Review

Short Par 4 offers the world's first golf subscription boxes just for women.

Personally, I think this is awesome.

Why? Well, for one, it's another gift I can give my wife who has only a passing interest in golf.

I think she only humors me really.

But she loves getting new clothes and stuff every month in her own account.

Actually, hitting the green is a good excuse to spend more time together.

And honestly, I love her even more for trying to be part of something that I am interested in (addicted to).

The Magnolia Membership includes the apparel and accessories you would expect from the men's subscription box, but from the top high-quality brands in women's golf.

Even if your gal is no Lexi Thompson, it's an awesome gift for all female golfers but especially those that are new to the game.

Wait, What Is The Tour Experience Box?!

(DISCONTINUED)

The Tour Experience Box was created by Short Par 4 to give subscribers a super-curated experience that would be centered around famous swingers from the PGA Tour.

The boxes were one-offs that went for around $125 and usually had a much higher total value when you add up all the stuff inside.

Previous Tour Experience boxes have been based on such golf luminaries as Rickie Fowler sponsored by Puma and Corba.

Unfortunately, this Tour Experience box has been discontinued at the time of this review.

So is their PGA Tour America Membership. (Sigh, oh well)

Choose Your Style

Unlike most other subscription boxes around these days, this one gives members a choice between four different styles at the start.

This is actually a really nice feature because it stops you from getting items that you absolutely would never wear out on the link regardless of the brand name.

SP4 (we're on a cool nickname basis now) will ask you to take a style quiz in order to get an idea of your personal tastes and customize your membership.

This way you will get maximum value out of your membership and your first box will feel like you shot a double eagle.

Traditional

If you've got a more traditional style, and you think Fred Couples or Matt Kuchar look great on the links, you'll probably like the Traditional Box.

All the apparel here is pretty low-key, but it's also fairly modern, clean, and classy.

You're looking at the kind of things that older tour pros wear, or at least what the more serious pros are likely to rock when they're playing a tournament.

Colors are neutrals (matte grey) and accent colors are muted.

Patterns are solids with ultra-subtle textures.

Loud & Wild

Are you more Ruff Ryders than Ryder Cup like I am? If your tastes run a little more towards Rickie Fowler, Jon Daly, or Ian Poulter; the Loud & Wild collection is probably more your speed.

The clothes in here are definitely as advertised, but they're still not cheaply made.

These are for people who want to look bold, strong, and maybe a little crazy on the course but who don't want their apparel to fall apart mid-swing.

Matte grey just ain't your thing!

Athletic

You can also grab the Athletic style if your style icons are Dustin Johnson or Zach Johnson.

That means expect to receive apparel with some deep tones and accent colors that pop! The selection will have you looking a little more like a college golfer or a younger tour pro.

These clothes look really good on and off the course, though they're obviously still meant for golf.

This is a great choice for anyone who just wants to go out and have a good day on the links.

All Styles

Thankfully, Short Par 4 golf also provides a really nice All Styles option - the most bang for your subscription buck.

This one has a good mix of styles, conservative and classic, for those who just want to see a wide range of golf gear.

You'll get bits and pieces from each of the other collections, which you can then use to determine which type of box you'd like to get next.

While the styles all differ a bit between the boxes, you're going to see very similar content in each box.

You'll get a good combination of base layer and other shirts, polos, gloves, hats, and glasses, along with other accessories like golf balls in each box.

It's a good set of items, especially when you take a look at the monthly price.

Choose this option if you appreciate the golf apparel wardrobe of Phil Mickelson or Adam Scott.

How Much Does Short Par 4 Cost?

Short Par 4 has two different pricing options for its members.

The first, Fairway, runs about $45 per month and it includes two or three premium brand items.

The higher tier, Executive, costs $79 per month and includes at least one more premium brand item.

While both prices are around the average for sporting goods boxes, it's nice to note that Short Par 4 claims that the items in the box will cost you about half the money they'd cost you at retail.

This means that the Fairway membership is usually at least a value of ninety dollars, while the Executive membership should have a value of somewhere around one-hundred sixty dollars worth of items.

Which membership works for the individual subscriber is really up for grabs.

The extra item in the Executive box is usually really good, but many subscribers are going to be perfectly happy with the two or three items that they get from the regular membership.

Both, however, are definitely worth pursuing depending on your personal budget and your taste for golf gear.

Other golf subscription boxes may offer lesser-known brands.

Membership Rewards: SP4 Bucks

Membership has its privileges! Short Par gives its members the opportunity to earn rewards, in the form of "SP4 Bucks", when they purchase Vault items and on subscriptions.

Vault items are items offered in the past that are still for sale individually.

They also offer creative ways to earn your rewards.

For example, you can earn 125 SP4 Bucks following them on Social Media, following their podcast, or reading their magazine.

Heck, you get 200 SP4 Bucks just for creating an account!

You can use your rewards to count towards your subscription or when buying Vault items.

See the chart above that shows the more you spend the more you earn!

Short Par 4 Review Final Thoughts

Although the upper tiers of the service can be a little expensive, everything you get in the boxes will be high-quality products and contain more retail value than what you paid.

Overall I was pleasantly surprised and pleased with Short Par 4.

If you are looking for a quick way to build up a closet full of apparel for the golf course, that also works well off the green,  Short Par 4 is the best option for you.

Short Par 4 also offers a gift card option that allows the receiver to set up their own preferences so you do not have to do any guesswork on their tastes or sizes.

It's a gift that keeps on giving on a monthly basis.

The purpose of this Short Par 4 Review is to help your make decision with confidence.

Whether you're trying to come up with a style worthy of the Majors or you're just looking for something to wear that won't get you kicked out of the country club, this box definitely has you covered.

Let Short Par 4 be your personal style caddies!
