SHTF Survival Review

Stocking up on emergency gear is rarely fun.

It requires a lot of time, a lot of patience, and it frequently involves a lot of money.

I can't describe the amount of time I've spent picking up bottled water when it was on sale or grabbing canned food to store in my basement - it's incredibly tedious work, even if it is worthwhile.

SHTF Survival has actually made picking up survival items fun, and that honestly seems impossible.

The box is just like any other subscription service out there - you pay a monthly fee, and you get a box of random items delivered to your home.

Unlike most, though, this box is full of practical items that can actually be used if things go bad.

Whether you're getting some free-dried food, a survival tomahawk or even some water purification gear, you'll be sure to be happy with anything you find here.

Though not every item is going to be a hit, you'll still be ecstatic to figure out that it fits in your bug-out bag.

What is It?

The SHTF Survival Box is pretty much what it says on the label - a box full of survival-related goodies.

Unlike some of the other boxes on the market, though, this one isn't just full of hunting supplies - it's full of the kinds of the items you'd need if the stuff really did hit the fan.

Though SHTF does technically fall into that bigger category of survival boxes, it actually occupies a pretty narrow niche.

It's not full of hunting equipment, it has relatively little to do with guns, and the knives that are included tend to be better suited to being used than display.

In short, this box really seems to be meant for those who are most concerned with the practical aspects of survivalism.

That's not to say that the box isn't fun - it really is - but rather to say that those who are going to get the most out of it are also those who will end up actually using the materials for their intended uses.

What's in the Box?

SHTF's contents differ every month, but you're going to see the same kind of items repeat between boxes.

You're mostly looking at tried and true survival gear - it may not be from big-name companies, but it's still the kind of stuff that you'd use camping or in a bug-out bag.

The boxes have firestarters, tools, and survival accessories that can help keep you safe in worst-case scenarios.

Everything in this box has some kind of practical value.

While there are definitely some other great survival boxes out there, they tend to be a little heavier on the swag than this one.

There's nothing you'll get in here that you couldn't squirrel away in a bug-out bag, and that makes the boxes very valuable.

SHTF also has a tendency to throw surprise items into even its smallest boxes.

This is a really customer-friendly action that probably doesn't cost the company very much, but it makes a huge impression.

This means that every month is a little more exciting because you really don't know what you're going to end up with.

Above all else, though, SHTF Survival is really up-front with the kinds of things that you're likely to get in your box.

While this might not seem like a big deal to some, it's actually a rarity in the world of subscription boxes.

It's nice to know that definitely going to get something from a small list of categories each month.

In short, the box contents here are all useful but they're all fairly fun to discover.

Whether you're looking to stock up a shelter or you just want to have some good camping gear on-hand, you'll find what you need here.

It's a solid box that really seems dedicated to the purposes for which the company advertises it - and that's a rarity in the subscription box world.

How Much Does it Cost?

SHTF offers three different pricing tiers for its customers.

The Primary kit costs $19.99, while the Pro kit runs $49.99.

If you really want to go big, though, the Elite kit costs $89.99 per shipment.

Pro kit has everything that's in the Primary kit plus some extras, while the Elite kit has everything that's in the Pro plus a few more high-end surprises for its subscribers.

It's always nice to see a subscription box service that offers multiple tiers of service.

The best value might be at the $19.99 price point, but you can go bigger if that makes sense for you.

Given that the higher tiers are more in line with what you'll find from other survival boxes, it's good to know that you can move up and down as you wish.

The contents of each of the survival boxes are guaranteed to be more than what you paid for your subscription.

In the case of the basic box, you're getting about forty dollars worth of items for just twenty dollars - definitely not a bad deal.

Though you can't pick out the items yourself, it's nice to know that you're getting a good deal.

If you're looking for a fun way to accumulate survival gear without breaking the bank, you should definitely check out this box.
