Tee Box Club Review

tee box club subscription review

Golf is an expensive habit, and it's one on which I am always attempting to save money.

Though there are definitely corners that can be cut, I also know that I play better when I have high-quality golf balls.

Editor's Note: Check out our top picks for Mens Golf Subscription Box.

Fortunately, that's where the Tee Box Club comes in.

I was interested in the idea of a subscription service that could get me brand-name recycled golf balls at a low price.

Once I actually got the box, though, I realized that it was a great purchase for stocking up on all my basics.

If you take a look at what's in the box and how it works, you'll likely discover the same thing.

What is It?

There are a lot of different golf boxes on the market right now, and all of them have their own particular gimmick.

The big focus on this one seems to be providing golfers with the essentials they need to get out on the course, albeit at a far lower price than most would pay at the store.

It's a nice alternative for those who might otherwise have to use sub-standard golf balls when they're first starting out.

There's also a fairly strong focus on using recycled materials here.

Using balls that you've found lying around is a time-honored golf tradition, but this box classes things up a bit by using recycled balls from leading brands.

This gives players who might be a little more budget conscious a chance to play with better golf balls, even if they're not straight out of the box.

In short, this is a very practical golf box.

It doesn't have any toys or gadgets, but it does have everything you need other than a set of clubs.

It's a good fit for those who just need a few extra balls to hit when they're playing a casual game.

What's in the Box?

This is honestly one of the most specifically-tailored golf boxes out there, so it's actually pretty limited in terms of what you're going to get in a given box.

That's not to say that the boxes aren't good, mind you - it just means that you're going to get exactly what you sign up for, no more and no less.

Every box comes with a dozen golf balls.

They're not new, though; instead, you're going to get a dozen recycled balls from some of the biggest brands in the country.

Given that so many golfers tend to play with recycled balls as it is, it's not really much of a knock on the product to note that you're getting something that's already been used.

What's much more interesting here is that you get to pick your brand.

Depending on the box you choose, you can get Titleist, Callaway, Bridgestone, or TaylorMade.

These are honestly some excellent golf balls, especially at the price point of these boxes.

As is common with the golf world, the best way to get good gear tends to be to look for something that's already been used.

In addition to the golf balls you'll get a handful of tees.

The tees are, to be blunt, tees - they certainly look good, but they're nothing special.

They do help to sell the idea that this is a box of golf essentials, though, and they're really nice to have.

The final addition here is an AA Cabretta glove.

It's a fairly nice glove that both looks and feels great, and it helps to round out the box.

You can actually choose to get the gloves on their own without anything else in the box, which should tell you a bit about how good the glove really is.

What Does Tee Box Club Cost?

There are a few different price points for this service, all of which depend on the balls that you've decided to get.

The cheapest is the Bridgestone E7 at $13.99 per box, followed by the Callaway Superhot at $16.99 and the TaylorMade Project (a) at $19.99.

The other TaylorMade and Bridgestone boxes cost $25.99, while the Callaway and Titleist boxes run $27.99.

If you choose to only get a glove each month, you'll end up paying around $12 per shipment.

None of these prices include tax or the shipping fees.

Is the club worth it financially? If you're just looking at the math, every box is worth substantially less than buying a dozen new golf balls from the same brand.

While the price is knocked down quite a bit simply because the balls are recycled, the overall price is actually very fair.

The gloves actually make up a fairly good bit of the box's value, as well - most go for at least $14 when you buy them alone.

The best deals, then, are those that include both the gloves and the balls.

Getting the full crate will definitely save you a little bit of money.

What's The Verdict

If you are a new golfer, this box is probably one of the best ways for you to start building up your collection of golf balls and tees.

It's very much a set of essentials, so you're going to be able to hit the course much more quickly with all the things you need when you choose this box.

Tee Box Club is also great for those who like to practice with high-quality golf balls but who don't want to pay full price for new balls.

You might be getting recycled materials, but they're still excellent.

Consider this kit if you want to make sure you've always got great golf balls on hand.

Pros

  • Ability to choose between brands
  • Features top-tier golf balls
  • Good overall value for the crates
  • Gloves look and feel awesome
  • Tees are a nice addition
  • Feels like a really good starter kit
